Alto Turia and Valentino
This destination is made up of two wine producing sub-areas in the interior of the province of Valencia. Land that was born alongside the waters of the river Turia and of tremendous ecological value for those who enjoy eco-tourism and wine tourism.
The Alto Turia is famous for its high-quality white wines. UNESCO declared the territory a Natural Biosphere Reserve and it is also a Starlight Destination thanks to the quality and clarity of its skies. The “vinos de altura” come from varieties of Merseguera and Macabeo grape situated at between 700 and 1,100 metres height. These characteristics give the wines an unmistakable flavour.
As we follow the river downhill, we come to the region of the Camp de Turia and the wine making area of Valentino. The wide range of soils and the Mediterranean climate here enable different types of vine to flourish here, with varieties of white wine such as Merseguera, Macabeo and Planta Fina; and red varieties such as Tempranillo, Tintorera or Cabernet Sauvignon, amongst others.
